List Building Basics – Start With Your Passion and the List Will Follow

The best way to start off in internet marketing is to build a list. Let me back up a bit…because really you have to start before that. You have to decide what topic you are going to build your list around. You have to make that decision and then the list building just kind of follows naturally. So let’s talk about that decision.

The way that I got focused was to decide what I wanted to accomplish. For me, personally, I knew it had to be huge or I would get distracted. That’s why I say, start with your passion. You want to have a goal that is so massive that every day when you wake up you are excited…and you can excite potential joint venture partners, too.

This is about your mindset. Come up with something huge and really inspiring to you.

I came up with a goal…my passion was to market around attention deficit disorder…something I have personal experience with! So while I was learning the marketing stuff, the ADD idea was running in the background.

You, too, can make a link between what you are wanting to market and your current life…your current income source…life experience…whatever. You then have to decide how to make that link and apply some creativity to it.

The first step is to really identify with what it is you’re trying to go for…and why. That’s the big picture.

You then need to learn about internet marketing so you can achieve what it is you want to achieve. And the first step in learning about internet marketing is the actual list building.

Once you decide what your passion is, connect with other experts…other people who are knowledgeable in that field. Figure out what they are doing…what they know that you don’t…and learn from them, too.

You will want to focus your list on a pretty narrow area. In the example of ADD, the focus was specifically on ADD…not all learning disabilities or disorders…just ADD.

By keeping your focus narrow you can learn more about your topic and become a really valuable resource to your subscribers. This will let you grow your list as people figure out that you are the source for information on the topic.

You can also use the contacts you have made in your niche to market other people’s products. You can become a super-affiliate for people and make some really good money while you are learning.

If you start with a goal that is huge…something that you are really excited about…you will transmit that excitement to other people. You will energize subscribers and joint venture partners when you talk to them. By doing this you will be list building, learning a ton, and making money…all at the same time!
